The Historical Society of Southern California
has a wide range of programs designed to reach out to all who are
interested in the people, places and fascinating stories of our past;
especially the history of Los Angeles and Southern California.
At
the center of these efforts is an ambitious publications
program. This includes the Southern
California Quarterly, a newsletter, as well as more than
thirty books, published by the Society during the last decade.HSSC
believes in celebrating history through the people who help make it
come alive. Our Awards
programs regularly demonstrate this commitment. While all our programs
express our commitment to sound and thoughtful scholarship, HSSC also
believes that history can be fun; something to be experienced as well
as studied. With this in mind, the Society hosts day-long
history tours, open to all, members and non-members alike.
Finally,
during the year, HSSC sponsors a number of special events, including a
lecture series, book signings and open house celebrations at El Alisal,
the Society's historic headquarters. Check our Calendar for
the latest schedules.
